The Garden of Learning's kindergarten program recognizes that children will soon be entering schools that have a range of expectations for a child's social and academic performance. Our kindergarten provides a comprehensive, learning-centered approach that challenges children and supports all areas of development. It recognizes both the value of emergent curriculum and the need for directed, sequential instruction to ensure that children enter first grade with the skills and knowledge expected of them in the school that they will attend.
This year we will learn a lot including but not limited to:
- counting to 100
- telling time by hour and half hour
- addition and subtraction
- counting by 1s, 5s and 10s
Children will have lessons in math using the Math Their Way curriculum, and our reading curriculum is Treasures. It is an amazing curriculum that will include phonics, sight words, reading, social studies, science and health. Important school skills of listening carefully, following through on a sequence of tasks, and working cooperatively are reinforced.
Communication is Essential
As parents, you deserve to know everything that happens while your kindergartner is in our care. We make great efforts to ensure that you are always in the know. We love to tell you about and show you your child's experiences through daily communications, your child's personal care plan and portfolio, and the photographic displays around the room.
